Location Delaware
Our 1,600 square foot decorative painting studio offers students an intimate training atmosphere, with classes limited to a maximum of 14 students to ensure students get the coaching and attention necessary. While we take teaching our students decorative painting very seriously, but we promote a friendly, relaxed classroom environment, where both students and instructors can have fun.
We provide all classroom materials necessary, and each day, we offer students complimentary coffee, breakfast snacks and lunch meals, so all students need to bring are painting clothes.
The studio is located in the city of Newark, Delaware, just a short distance (5-10 minutes walk) from downtown Newark’s Main Street, and the University of Delaware’s main campus. Students can enjoy their free time strolling through Newark’s downtown district, shopping, dining or having a nightcap at one of Newark’s many establishments. Just a short drive from I-95, our studio is easily accessible by car to students along the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states, and both Philadelphia Airport and Baltimore Airport are just an hour’s drive away for students traveling by air. Amtrak also provided train service to both Wilmington and Newark.

From Philadelphia and Wilmington, DE:
Take I-95 South towards Baltimore. Once in Delaware, take exit 3 which is Route 273 west.
Keep slight right at the fork as you exit I-95 towards 273 west / Newark. Continue on Route 273 (also known as Christiana Road) for roughly 4 miles. You will come to a traffic light at the intersection of Route 273 and Library Avenue (You will see Nissan and Toyota car dealerships to your right and a Post Office on your left). As you continue straight on 273 west just beyond Library Avenue, Route 273 will become E. Main Street.
Continue straight down E. Main Street through the town of Newark for approximately 1/2 mile. Shortly after you pass through the traffic light at the intersection of College Avenue, the road will then fork again. At this fork, turn slight left, following the signs that say 896 South / Route 2 Business. After making the slight left onto 896 South / Route 2 Business, get in the right traffic lane. Take 896 S / 2 Business, 4/10 of a mile (You will pass by The Newark Arts Alliance, a Kinko’s copy center, the Eagle Diner and Pat’s MVP Pizza on your right).
Shortly after you pass Pat’s MVP Pizzeria, you will turn right into the driveway where you will see the Delaware Dance Company (black awning with white lettering).
Our studio is housed in a large dark brick building complex, with the Delaware Dance Company located in the front of the complex (across the street from Friendly’s restaurant). Take the driveway located on the right side of the building to the courtyard at the back of the complex and park in any of the spaces marked “Retail and Office parking only”. There is additional parking located on the side and in the front of the complex. Please do not park in any of the spaces marked for “Apartment Unit Parking”. As you walk into the courtyard, our studio is third door on your left, Suite # 209.
From the South (Baltimore and Washington DC):
Take I-95 North towards Philadelphia. Take exit 109A-B towards Route 279 / Elkton / Newark. As the exit forks, stay left towards the ramp for exit 109-B / Route 279 North towards Newark, Delaware. At the bottom of the off-ramp, turn slight right onto Route 279 North and take for 1.4 miles. Route 279 will then become Elkton Road. Take Elkton Road for another 2.2 miles.
Just after the intersection of Elkton Road and Apple Road, you will see a 7-Eleven on your left and a Friendly’s restaurant on your right. Just after passing Friendly’s, turn left into the driveway for 168 Elkton Road / Madeline Crossing. You will see the Delaware Dance Company at the front of the building complex. Take the driveway located on the right side of the building to the courtyard at the back of the complex and park in any of the spaces marked “Retail and Office parking only”. There is additional parking located on the side and in the front of the complex. Please do not park in any of the spaces marked for “Apartment Unit Parking”. From New York City and Southern New Jersey:
First consult a map to find the best way to access the New Jersey Turnpike. Take the New Jersey Turnpike South to the very last exit, which is exit #1 for the Delaware Memorial Bridge / I-295 South.
After crossing the Delaware Memorial Bridge into Delaware, I-295 becomes I-95. Follow I-95 South towards Baltimore.
Take I-95 South for 9.4 miles to exit 1B which is Route 896 North / Newark. Once you exit at this off-ramp, Route 896 North is also called S. College Avenue. Continue straight on S. College Avenue for 1.7 miles until you reach
W. Park Place. Turn left onto W. Park Place and drive for roughly 1/2 mile until you reach Apple Road. Turn right onto Apple Road and continue for less than 1/4 mile until you reach a traffic light at the intersection with Elkton Road.
Turn right onto Elkton Road. Drive for 1/10 mile and turn left into 168 Elkton Road / Madeline Crossing. You will see the Delaware Dance Company at the front of the building complex. Directions by train:
Take AMTRAK to Wilmington Station, located on the corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and French Street in downtown Wilmington, Delaware. AMTRAK serves this station from several cities all along the east coast.
Check www.amtrak.com for train schedules. Once you arrive at Wilmington station, you have the option of taking a cab or renting a car. Drive time from Wilmington Station to The Mural School in Newark is roughly 20-30 minutes.

Philadelphia International Airport is the closest (approximately 45 minute drive time); however students may also want to consider Baltimore/Washington International Airport for more competitive fares, as it is within 1 hour’s driving distance from Newark, Delaware.
